Solar Tracker

Solar panels collect more light when perpendicular to the sun's rays. In Flagstaff, single axis tracking increases a solar panel's yield by 35%. Nitinol, when heated, returns to the state at which it is trained. In this case, the nitinol will shrink when heated. The heat is supplied by discharging a super capacitor through the spring. Compared to conventional electric motors, this design is inexpensive, reliable, and easy to repair and maintain.
